Hello,
I did not get to post yesterday. I went the movies with the youth department, and I came back home and went to the gym. Yesterday was a good day. I went walking around the park and read my book Good Morning Holy Spirit. I am almost done with it. I have two more chapters. It is a great book. I recommend it for a read if you have not read it. I ate well yesterday. I went to the movies to see the new Spiderman movie, which was great!! You have to go see that if you have not seen it yet. When I was there, I ate salad. However, I used ranch dressing, so it was not the best choice, but at least I ate some veggies. When my husband and I got back home, he wanted to go to the gym because he did not get a chance to workout earlier. I could have staid home because I already went walking early that day, but since I knew I ate the ranch, I decided to go walking on the treadmill while he ran. He wanted me to do crunches with him too, but I was too tired for that. However, I am going to do it today. One of our friends from church does 200 per day, so I think I will start with 100 and work my way up. I think it is best that I start adding an ab workout because I need muscles in my stomach as I keep losing weight!! I will post tonight on what has taken place today!! Hello,
I hope that you all had a great day today. Today, was another great day on my weight-loss journey. I weighed myself first thing this morning, and I lost more weight! YAY! When I made breakfast, I added veggies to my eggs. It was delicious. My husband wanted cheese on his eggs this morning, so I made his separately, which made me have to do an extra step. However, I was determined to avoid the extra calories in cheese. Later, for lunch, I ate leftovers from last night's dinner. It was still good! My snacks were fruit today, and for my late night snack I had 1/4 cup of cereal and milk. My husband laughed at me, but I was proud of myself. Now, what I am most proud of and happy about is what I ate for dinner tonight. I have an amazing church family. We had a youth meeting at 7pm, and the Youth Pastor said he would take care of dinner in a text message. I knew this was a social trigger, so I asked would it be possible to have a healthy option. The others in the group sent GIFs of delicious unhealthy foods, and we all laughed. However, at the meeting, the Youth Pastor had Jimmy Johns. I was like this is so awesome. I thanked him for his support of my weight-loss journey. I ate a turkey and tuna sub, but they were cut very small. Therefore, altogether I ate a 6 inch sub. They were delicious! I did grab a bag of chips too, but instead of just eating them, I checked my noom app to see if I would go over my calorie count for my red foods (the section you don't want to eat too much of), and it showed me that I would exceed my limit so back the chips went on the table! I am thankful for my church family, and my Youth Pastor for having my back tonight. The Noom app encouraged me to not be afraid to share with others what I am doing because people would support me, and I am thankful that I listened. I did not have to cook dinner tonight or eat something that was unhealthy. Finally, I went running today at the park again. It was great! I pushed myself harder. I made sure that I kept my stride instead of slacking when I grew tired. While my husband played basketball, I ran. It was challenging because I wanted to stop. I do the HIT program where I run for 30 seconds and rest for 15. When I finally stopped after 2 laps around the park, I had did the HIT program for a total of 44 mins. I was super proud of myself! Today was a great day!! Be sure to comment!! TTYL, Chavon Thomas Hello, I hope your Monday has been great so far!! I went to the park this morning and went for a walk. It was really nice. It was a new location for me, and I think I will go again. It was peaceful. My title today is Standing Strong because today I made some tough choices in relation to eating. I made healthy choices. I am proud of myself. It has almost been 1 week. Also, great news when I weighed in today, I lost some weight!!! That was very exciting because I started to get discouraged because I had not seen a change yet. I even thought my scale was broke one day, lol. I picked it up and shook it and everything. This is not an easy process, but it is one that I am actually enjoying right now. I have not given up, and I am so happy that I have you all in this journey with me. I feel good everyday I can write a blog with good news!! My noom app today talked about how I can gain more calories in my diet if I exercise more. This was good news. However, I still have to eat the right things. There have been times in the past where I thought I could eat what I wanted because I worked out, but I have learned that is not true at all. When I workout, it is better to put good calories back in. I want my body to continue to work off the good food rather than food that is harder to process in my digestive track. Thank you for tuning in. Be sure to comment. I have a video that I did on my walk for you also. Check it out. TTYL Chavon Thomas Hello,
I hope you all are having a great Sunday. Before church this morning, I ran on the treadmill and got on the elliptical. I was so proud of myself for doing an early morning workout. Also, I ate well today. I had my veggies, fruit, and protein. My calorie count was good also. I wanted to eat pizza my husband ordered, but I didn't. Then, I went to my friend's house and she had cake, but I did not eat that either. YAY for me!!! Then in my Noom app, I learned that there are positive and negative social triggers for eating healthy. However, where there are negative social triggers, you can turn them into positive ones. You can suggest something different or choose to do something different. I am thankful, and I celebrate today's success!!! It is not easy to eat healthy and exercise, but it is possible. I am excited about a life-style change!! TTYL Chavon Thomas Hello,
I hope your Saturday has been wonderful. I have figured out that Tropical Smoothie is not healthy. Uggh. I feel like I have been tricked. I learned this today through my app. There is no such thing as healthy fast food!!! I really thought tropical smoothie was different!!! NOPE!! LOL Anyways today my husband said we were going to take a trip to the beach with some of the youth from my church, so I did not go to the gym this morning. Instead, I walked the beach, which is serious exercise in my book. We walked for over two hours on the beach. We had a lot of fun. I did not eat ice cream, which is a big deal because there are so many ice cream shops on the beach. I was proud that I made breakfast this morning because I have a bad habit of not eating breakfast in the morning. Trying to change that habit. My plan is to go to the gym tomorrow morning for church. My noom app allowed me to learn some new things about my eating habits. I tend to be a storm eater, which means that I eat something not healthy and keep going instead of just a little. Then, I also learned about thought distortion: 1. all or nothing- I eat something bad, so I will never get it right 2. mind reading- People will think I'm strange for eating healthy (salad) at dinner 3. unhelpful rules- I have to finish everything on my plate 4. justification- I can eat unhealthy now because I did good earlier 5. delusional- Eating a small desert does not count when it does 6. exaggerated- I had a donut for breakfast so the entire day is ruined TTYL Chavon Thomas Hello,
I hope you are having a great day. I was able to eat better today, but I did not get to exercise. I had plans to do my T-25 workout, but I cannot find the remote to my DVD player. Therefore, I will have to get up and go to the gym tomorrow. Also, I was busy writing a 20 page paper that was due tonight and two discussion boards. I have half of the paper done, so I only needed to add 10 additional pages. I thank God that I am done with that class. It has been a great day. I went to a meeting today that was great for my mental health too. TTYL Chavon Thomas Hello,
I hope your 4th of July has been great. My husband and I just hung out and watched Stranger Things. It was very relaxing. Nice to breathe and have some time with him. This morning, I was headed to the gym, and I had a friend from my church tell me about a woman who has her own Youtube videos (Jessica Bass) where she does workout dance videos. I went to look her up, and I was looking for a long video because many of them were only 3 or 4 mins. long. I found one that was 10 mins, and I did the routine 3 times. The routine was not hard, but my heart rate did increase. Also, I am a little sore from it. My review of the video was that the routine was not too challenging, which was good because she did not take you step by step to learn. When the video comes on you just jump right into the routine with her. I was not expecting this because I had CIZE by Shaun-T a while back where it took you step by step and then you did the routine with the music. Overall, it was a good experience. I also found my T-25 tape by Shaun-T. I plan to get up in the morning and do one of those tapes tomorrow. I hope everyone enjoyed their day today. I have to go back to eating healthy tomorrow along with the exercise. Things I have learned from this health app called noom that is interesting (it educates you): 1. Take your Weight everyday in the morning 2. Try to eat low caloric density (ex. Grapes vs. Raisins-- Grapes are better) green (low like veggies and whole grains) yellow (mid like lean meats and starches) red (high like red meats and desserts) - This is cool because it explains why many people don't eat sweets or red meat. It is better to have a great understanding behind the rational. - It even went on to say that since humans are not rabbits, it is not expected to only eat salads (this blessed my whole life). It said instead 30% green, 45% yellow, and 25% red. - FYI an Avocado is considered a Yellow food. TTYL Chavon Thomas Hello everyone!!
My name is Chavon Thomas, and this is my weight-loss blog. I am excited and nervous about beginning this new journey and this new blog. My prayer is that I remain Desperate for Change, which means that I will discipline myself to truly experience the joy of healthy living that brings results. Often times I am the one working to encourage others, but in this blog, I am working to keep myself encouraged. The only motivational thing you will see is the quotes on my home page unless you are motivated as you follow me on this journey. I am not an expert in fitness at all. I am just an average woman trying to make significant change. I dont have the money for a personal trainer that many have the luxury to train with. Instead, it will be me researching and making changes as best I can. Unfortunately it is a day before July 4th, so I will officially be starting to eat healthy on the 5th, but I do plan to workout the next two days. I already did 1 mile on the elliptical today. I plan to go back again, but tomorrow I will let you know if I did or not. I also plan to do an early morning workout tomorrow. I will let you know if I did that or not too! TTYL Love You!! Chavon |
